BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE

Minutes

The Building and Maintenance Ministry had its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 6:30 P.M.

The following items were discussed:

1. Tree Trimming-Most of the trimming work has been completed. Several trees remain to be cut at the back of the cemetery. Joe Sibert will contact Keller Tree trimming to complete the work. He will also plant grass seed in the area by Spring Street where several trees have been removed.

2. Electrical Wiring-We are waiting for a quote from Hawk's Electrical for wiring the downstairs social hall. A quote has already been given for the upstairs Sunday school rooms. That amount was $6500 to rewire those rooms. As soon as the final quote is prepared, we will present a recommendation to the Consistory to have the work completed.

3. Attic Flooring-The plywood has been purchased for the flooring in the attic. We are anticipating the completion of this project in the near future.

4. Bats-The Company hired to get rid of the bats have reported that the attic is virtually bat-free. However, some bats were noticed in the area of the soffit on the Spring Street side of the church. Allen Cook will make arrangements to have this checked so that we can take steps necessary to prohibit bats from entering at this location. It was agreed to have the company return to check the attic in the spring.

5. Noisy Air Conditioner-Jack Sheetz and Howard Lambert have wrapped some piping in the basement to reduce noise when the air conditioner cuts on. In addition, they plan to stabilize the pipes further to reduce vibration and noise.

6. Location of the Sound System-Members agreed to pursue having the control box for the sanctuary sound system moved to the back of the church for efficiency and convenience of use during services. It was noted that a back pew will need to be shortened in order to have room for the control box. David Brill will pursue this with the company that installed the sound system for a quote, and then make a recommendation to the Consistory.
